Statistical Data Analysis Using Stata

Master data management, descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and reporting using Stata โ€” the gold standard in research data analysis.

Course Overview

Stata is the gold standard in quantitative research data analysis, widely used in academia, public health, economics, and international development. This 5-day intensive course takes you from data import and cleaning all the way through advanced statistical modeling and professional output generation.

You will work with real-world datasets from health, social science, and development research contexts, building the practical skills and analytical confidence that employers and research organizations demand.

By the end of this course, you will be able to independently manage and analyze complex datasets, produce publication-quality tables and graphs, and interpret statistical results with precision.

What You Will Learn

  • Navigate Stata's interface and understand its syntax, do-files, and log system
  • Import, clean, and structure datasets from CSV, Excel, and other formats
  • Perform data management: merging, appending, reshaping, and labelling variables
  • Compute and interpret descriptive statistics: means, frequencies, cross-tabulations
  • Conduct hypothesis testing including t-tests, chi-square, and ANOVA
  • Build and interpret simple and multiple linear regression models
  • Perform logistic regression for binary outcome analysis
  • Analyse complex survey data using svyset for correct standard errors
  • Create publication-quality tables, bar charts, scatter plots, and box plots
  • Use putexcel and putdocx to export formatted results to Excel and Word
  • Write clean, reproducible do-files following professional coding standards
